GNMOZ is currently looking for a WASH MANAGER based in Chokwe or Mabalane District in Gaza province.
Fixed-term contract for 11 months (May 2022- March 2023)
Possibility of extension depending on the performance and the availability of funds.
Objective of the project:
To improve health status of the community through the provision of safe water, sanitation and hygiene services in Massangena District in Gaza Province, Mozambique.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
・Management of general project activities and provide daily reports to Project Manager;
・Develop a program plan, ensure its smooth implementation, and manage the team’s performance of project tasks and activities that may include, but are not limited to;
・Construction or rehabilitation of water networks, gravity flow systems, wells or boreholes;
・Implementation of latrines or other sanitation facilities;
・Hygiene promotion and education;
・Creation and training of management structures;
・Carrying out of assessments and post-implementation monitoring;
・Capacity building of stakeholders;
・Monitoring of sub-contractor work;
・Ensure appropriate design, construction and implementation of WASH hardware according to technical standards, as well as proper maintenance and use of WASH equipment;
・Develop and ensure the use of appropriate techniques and materials for hygiene promotion and training;
・Support coordination and effective communication between Project Manager and the counterparts in the field (Provincial and District Government Offices, UN agencies, etc.);
・Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure all required inputs are timely provided and project schedule is met;
・Manage the program budget through the passing of timely orders, the preparation of monthly forecasts and the monitoring of expenditure;
・Track the progress of activities, ensure the collecting of program indicators and provide on-time internal status reports and external donor reports;
・Identify and monitor risks, constraints or escalating issues, and inform the hierarchy accordingly;
・Ensure that all data and information is updated, well organized and easily accessible; and that lessons learnt and best practice are capitalized;
・Analyze and report on the evolving humanitarian needs and provide clear recommendations for interventions;
・Develop appropriate targeting criteria and mechanisms to ensure the needs of identified vulnerable groups are met;
・Participate in the development of new proposals;
・Fulfill other duties assigned by Project Manager and Project Manager;
・Work with the team (government-seconded staff) to ensure all activities are planned, prioritized, carried out and monitored in efficient and effective ways, with due consideration to gender and advocacy issues;
・Ensure full compliance with security plans and protocols in consultation with GNMOZ;
・Provide technical expertise and guidance to staff as appropriate, in (for example, but not limited to) assessment, monitoring, evaluation, reporting (Internal and Donor Reports), financial management, proposal development, technical design of water and sanitation facilities and the exercise of judgment skills;
・Work with the team to provide appropriate and regular verbal and written reports to the Project Manager.
・Master degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture or relevant fields;
・Over 5 years of Work experience of WASH project management in NGO/INGO or non-profit sectors;
・Familiarity with GIS, data analysis software and water modelling software preferred.
・Fluency in written and spoken English; Portuguese and local language is a strong asset;
・Good computer skills (MS Office: Excel, Word);
